I hope your day has been great. I wanted to discuss “reaching for the stars.” That phrase means so much to so many people, yet it still doesn’t mean the same thing to everyone, which is why it’s amazing. So today let’s look into the actual stars ..one of my favorite things about Summer besides ice-cream and a good swim!
For those of you who know me this is old news, but for those of you who are just getting to know me, it’s new news. In college, I actually worked for NASA. Yes the ACTUAL NASA Johnson science center. Yes it was the most awesome amazing science geek job, and it was my best job ever. Our college promoted science events and programs for the community, so we actually worked with NASA to enlighten everyone we met, about the stars, constellations, and everything in between. I was trained by their programs, and learned how to use their equipment which is top of the line, and myself and others in the event group demonstrated how we can see anomaly’s in the sky. One Summer, I got to see my favorite planet Venus. It looks like the brightest star in the sky, and I felt like Han Solo at that moment.
In summer, you can see quite a few constellations, planets, eclipses, meteor showers, various cool moons, and even a shooting star. In ( the beginning middle and end of) June, depending where you live, you can actually see : Mars, Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter in the summer sky. Let me tell you, after seeing Jupiter and Venus they’re miraculous, so it’s something you must do in a lifetime! Some constellations you can see include : the Summer Triangle, Lyra, Scorpio, and of course my favorite Sagittarius to name just a few.
So when you feel alone in the world, go outside after sunset, and look up at the sky. No matter if you’re just using your own two eyes or an expensive equipment set, when you’re looking up, just know that, there are billions of other people looking up right with you, reaching for the stars…
I wish for you all to remember that you can always reach for the stars, as your dreams are just a nightfall away.
