I hope you all enjoyed your weekend ! Today I’m talking Claus.. not the one in a sentence. The big guy in the red suit, and we love him!! S A N T A !!! Do you know him like Buddy the elf? I know we do!
Santa Claus is such a role-model not only to kids but to people all over the world! Santa Claus, the person, was actually a monk named Nicholas who was alive in AD times, and was born in what is now modern day turkey. He was admired for his piety and kindness, and today is not just the man behind the legend, but he is the patron Saint of children.
The Dutch culture recognizes Saint Nicholas as Sint Nikolaas or Sinterklaas. Their name for him, SinterKlaas, in modern history, trended to what we know now as Santa Claus. Now we don’t know if the man behind the many names actually wore a red suit or not, or had a sack filled with toys for more than trillions of children and good people, but what we do know is that what he represented then, he still does now, and that is Christmas kindness.
Christmas kindness doesn’t need to be store bought, it simply needs to be homegrown from the heart. As a child, Santa was someone I loved, as an adult Santa is someone I still love and strive to be, especially at Christmas.
So whether you are seeing Santa at the mall, at the farm, eating breakfast with him, volunteering with him, writing him a letter, or just watching one of his Christmas movies, just remember we all need a little Christmas, and there’s nothing better to start with spreading a Little Christmas cheer.
